I'd like to create a report parameter to allow the user to enter only a
partial field using wildcard(s) in SRS. The list is lengthy and the user
does not always know the full name to enter.
Is this possible?
Thanks,
KarenVery much it can be done. Just you need to keep in mind about the single
quotes you are using for string paramters. eg '%userrequest' which you will
be passing the parameters to the "where" clause.

WHERE (dbo.UP_Agents.AgentName = @.AgentName)
is this where I would add the wildcard? Or would I add in a separate
string? (sorry, i'm learning this as I go)
Thank you,
Karen

WHERE (dbo.UP_Agents.AgentName LIKE '%' + @.AgentName + '%')
Thanks for getting me started.

Parameter label field
How do I refer to the label field of a parameter? I have a parameter named
Group with a lable field of 'HR' and value field of 23. I'm puting a text
box at the top of my report with the parameters in it. I dont want to
display '23' (which is what Parameters!Group.Value returns), I want to
display 'HR'
Thanks,
DougI almost hate to tell you this.
Parameters!Group.Label
The expression builder doesn't show you this but just type it in.

Parameter in WHERE clause using Functions
I'm trying to use a report parameter in my where clause to compare against
the month portion of a field. Reporting Services (version 2000) does not seem
to like this. Here's the WHERE clause I'm trying to get to work (of course
it's all on one line):
WHERE (company = @.Company) AND (MONTH(close_time) = @.DSMonth1) AND
(YEAR(close_time) = @.DSYear1)
When I try to execute the query, I get an error that states:
Invalid object name "dbo.RAW_DW.MONTH"
Invalid object name "dbo.RAW_DW.YEAR"
It seems Reporting Services thinks MONTH and YEAR are fields when I'm just
trying to use the MONTH and YEAR functions to extract that data from the
datetime field (close_time) and compare it to the report parameter. It may
just be a formatting issue on my part.
Does anyone know what's wrong with the clause?
Thanks in advance.
BrendaHi Brenda,
I dont think that the error you are getting is related to the WHERE clause
in this case. Do you have RAW_DW.Month and ...YEAR in your overall query?
What are the data types of the two parameters, @.DSMonth1 and @.DSYear1?
Without seeing the full query, it is hard to troubleshoot the error, if
indeed these are valid objects in your database.

Parameter entered has the wrong format.. you must be ....me!
Hi
I have the problem that the below defined paramter gets entered in the database as a interger. the Field in the DB is a nvarchar(5) and the controll that suplies the value is a TextBox
this is the parameter definition:
<asp:ControlParameterControlID="tbComment"Name="Comment"PropertyName="Text"Type="String"/>
Why do I get this error, why does ASP to whant to make an integerfrom this text field? When putting a interger value in the textbox all works well and the data gets posted to the database.
I use aSqlDataSource with automatic generated script.
look forwart to a solution
walter
Do you use a stored procedure or ...? make sure the parameter (comment) is not passed to a parameter of type int.

Page Totals in Crystal Report
I want have Page Totals on a field in my report. Can anybody help me out. There's a section called 'Special Fields' located in the same area where you would add a Field or a Formula to your report. The Special Fields contain fields such as 'Print Date', 'Print Time', 'Page N of M', 'Page Number', 'Total Page Count', etc... In Crystal Reports 8.5, this can be found under Insert, Field Object menu item.

Page Number problem
Hello,
I have a problem displaying the correct page numbers (or number of pages). I've inserted the page number field into the page header b, it will always shows 1/1, no matter how many pages i got. on the other hands...how do I solve this problem?
Thanks!Make sure you're using the 'Page N of M' field instead of the 'Page Number' field.
Then use the section expert to check if any sections have the 'Reset Page Number After' box ticked.|||erm...i tried it. it still didn't work.
i tried putting it into the report header, it displays the pages correctly, just that the problem is i dont want it to appear on Report Header, i wanted the page number in the Page Header...due to the way the report was designed (customer's format).
Plz advise?|||oh wait...
i works!
thanks!|||ok..now another problem
let say there are 2 page. the first page displays 1/2. but the 2nd page also displays 1/2
how to solve it? thanks~~~
