Please Help.
A user of mine was deleting records in a table of about
40 million records it took almost an hour.
On Process/info activitiy I saw PAGEIOLATCH_EX. Any idea
what it means please.

Olutimi OloruntobaAssuming a SCSI RAID disk subsystem one hour for 40 million records is not
unexpected. The PAGEIOLATCH_EX is a fancy way of saying it is waiting for a
physical IO (disk read/write) to complete. Again, this is expected. If you
want to lower the impact of a large delete, break it up into smaller chunks.
